She rose with the dawn

Image

She rose with the dawn
sprinkling rose water on her unbound hair
she slipped outdoors on bare feet
well, who would wear shoes
while bare-naked anyway.
That moment when night pauses
and day appears
when the earth is holding the in-breath
before breathing out a new day upon us
it called to her, that pause.
The veil is thin between the worlds
and if you are careful and still
you will see them for a moment
those who have moved on
those who walk at your side
those who guide and protect
She wanted that, this morning
not just the knowing she carries with her
but the seeing of those who came before
those who surround her
upholding her every movement
her reaching out to those who come to her.
The day would require energies from her
many would sit at her feet
claiming the grace and beauty
that flows so boundlessly from her.
For now, she stood naked under the sky
as their form took shape in that
early morning light.
We are with you, they whispered
We love and cherish you, they smiled.
As the earth released her breath
she too breathed out and
raising her hands to the sky
with hands and heart wide open
she drank in the strength that she
needed to move through
this day, this life
“I am ready” she cried out
and the light shone upon her
in blessing and power.

Joss Burnel
a Poem of DeAnne  ~ January 3, 2014

My beloved sacred friend Joss Burnel, Crowing Crone Woman of Wisdom gifted me with this gorgeous poem.  We had shared intimate conversations, hopes, dreams, longings, prayers, awareness and awakenings together with our core circle of women.  And, from just those first few days together, SHE connected to me across the seas from her home in France and honored me with this verse.

Joss, you know my heart and soul. You know that you have my deepest thanks and eternal friendship. I love you so. You are “She Who Walks in Beauty.” What a gift you are.
Namaste Beloved. Namaste _/\_ xo  Love Always, DeAnne

Our Entire Landscape

Let us not access ourselves, or anyone else, by the low valleys, plateaus or epic mountain heights we have journeyed.

The entire landscape has value.

The entire landscape of who we are has infinite value.
Drink in all the scenery and the journey that You Are.

Beloved One

Image
Beloved One,
Living Light,
Spirit of All That Is,
we give thanks.
Thank you for welcoming us
to this sacred circle.

We come from everywhere,
and we find you wherever we are:
inside the holy houses of each of the world’s faiths,
and out in the wild places of the earth;
shoulder to shoulder in the mosque,
bending to press our hearts to the ground in surrender;
in the haunting Hebrew melodies of our ancestors
as we call on the Shekinah to infuse us
with her indwelling feminine spirit;
in the communion bread and wine,
which we take in remembrance
of the Prince of Peace.

We hear your voice joining with ours when we chant the Divine Names
in Sanskrit and Tibetan, Tiwa and Maya and Maori.
We meet you high on alpine trails,
where we stop to rest among fragrant wild herbs,
beside a stream rushing with melted snow.
We feel you holding us when we float in the arms of the ocean
and she sways us with her breath.
We kiss you when we are making love;
we mourn you when an elder releases her final exhalation;
we soothe you when we rock a tired child in our arms.

We look for you in the pulsating emptiness,
search for your true form in the heart of formlessness,
unexpectedly recognize you when we give up and turn away.
You shine through the ecstatic stanzas of the poets and mystics,
each one singing your praises in a different language.
You well up in our aching hearts
when we cry out for the pain of the world.

You are the call to justice,
and the answering response of mercy.
You are in the wounding of the earth
and you are the only hope for mending her.

Oh Great Spirit,
Father-Mother God,
True Self and No-Self,
Invisible animating energy of Life:
We claim our place at your table
and find ourselves home at last.
Here may we eat and be filled,
drink and become unbridled,
lay down our burdens and take refuge,
drop into your sacred silence and remember.
And let us take this remembrance back out into our lives,
That we may truly be of service
in this broken and beautiful world.

AMEN.

Eternal Flame

May the eternal flame burn brightly.

May it spark more souls to Peace.

May it ignite more hearts to live their own “Profiles in Courage.”

May it forever remind us to honor and live our own legacy.

We honor this today, on this day, November 22, 2013 ~ the 50th anniversary of the passing of the torch, as visionary President John F. Kennedy left this world. May his eternal flame burn brightly forever….

Caressing My Daughter’s Shoes

Image

This poem came pouring through me years ago….. I came upon it again one week ago.  With our girl just off to college, the timing is divinely perfect.

“Caressing my Daughter’s Shoes”

One day….

these shoes will walk out of this house…..

and into the world

on the feet of my daughter.

May each step “they” take….

be in tune with the music…..

and the wisdom….

of her heart.
